Mukmuk

 

Mukmuk was gracious enough to visit us to introduce the next quiz.  He's a cute little marmot  whose name comes from the Chinook word "muckamuck" meaning food.  For some reason though he's only a "sidekick" and not an official mascot for Vancouver.  But the people love the little furball with his distinctive blue and orange beanie that shows his Canadian pride.  In fact, today there was a rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery to get Mukmuk full mascot status!

Miga

Miga is a sea bear from British Columbia and the 3rd official mascot of the Vancouver games.  A sea bear is part killer whale and part bear.  The legend from the Pacific Northwest told of  these great killer whales who reached land and turned into bears.  Miga loves to surf and then when it gets cold, she's all over the slopes snowboarding her little heart out!

Sumi

Blue Blob

It's an annual tradition known as the "Crosstown Shootout" when Xavier and Cincinnati's basketball teams meet.  The two schools are only two miles apart making it the closest distance between arch rivals in the country.  Back in the 1980s, Skyline Chili offered the winning team a free mascot.  Xavier won the game that year and the blue blob was born!

The Montgomery Biscuits

That lil guy happens to be the mascot for the Montgomery Biscuits, a minor league team in the great state of Alabama.  As you can see, he's a biscuit with spiked shoes and a pat of butter in his mouth.  It's popular for fans to yell out "hey butter butter!" and then head to the team store, aka the Biscuit Basket for souvenirs.  During the game, biscuits are often shot out of an air cannon!

Unflappable
